Build the vehicle of your dreams with the Chevrolet Performance 400 Aluminum Bare Engine Block. The engine block comes with splayed four-bolt steel main bearing caps with dowel pins. This CNC-machined, A-356 aluminum competition block supports 800 maximum horsepower. As an aluminum race block, it provides the same competition-level strength and reliability of a cast iron race block, but with a light weight that improves vehicle handling. It features a standard lifter pattern, siamesed bores with increased wall thickness, centrifugally spun cast iron cylinder sleeves, and premium main studs. The engine block is designed for dry sump oiling systems only as well as 2-piece rear main seal crankshafts, pre-1986 oil pans, and 2.000-inch O.D. (1.867-inch I.D.) cam bearings. The oil dipstick holes are not drilled. The clearance between the timing drive system and the block should be checked before engine assembly, and blocks may also require machining of the block to provide clearance at the top of lifter bores for some roller lifters (0.842 inch).
